Default Invoice

Hi

I just received this email today and kinda pissed me off. This email sound like a threat or a warning and IS NOT and invoice...THIS IS A BAD BUSINESS PRACTICE...

I hope HostGator come up with a better invoice than this

Quote:
Your web hosting payment is due. Please pay all out standing invoices asap to avoid service interruption and a $10.00 late fee.

Credit Card
If you pay us by credit card the reason you are getting this email is because your credit card has failed.

If you are sure your card has funds on it the reason it failed is due to some credit card companies such as capital one block recurring charges to take place from Internet merchants. This means you will have to follow the below directions and login to the account every month and pay the bill manually.

You can pay this invoice, and or update your credit card on file at https://secure.hostgator.com/billing/ As soon as you login click "total due" than select the invoice you would like to pay and click "pay online" You will get a credit card box to fill out and submit for the charge to run. If you have entered a new credit card number it will not be saved for future payments. To update your saved card on file click "home" from inside the billing system, click "my finance" and last "update cc"

Paypal

If you pay using paypal DO NOT send a payment to our email address. To pay you will need to login at :

https://secure.hostgator.com/billing/
Username: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Once logged in click the number where it says "Total Due" Now click the invoice number you would like to pay. You can make a one time payment by clicking the picture that says "pay now with paypal" or you can set your payment to be taken automatically every month by clicking "pay now and subscribe" NOTE: If you pay using a paypal check your invoice will say unpaid until the check clears.

Cash, Check and or Money Orders

Mail your payment made out to "hostgator.com"

hostgator.com
11251 Northwest Freeway, suite 400
Houston, Tx 77092
United States of America

There will be a $10.00 late fee on any payments received after the 10 day grace period. We thank you for your continued business and assistance in helping us to get this resolved.

Thank you,
HostGator.com Sales Team

Looks pretty straightforward to me. I guess they could just not bother to send out any communication that payment has failed and suspend the account. I've seen companies that do that.

Yeah, terrible business practice to me -- giving you a few extra days to pay and letting you know rather than just suspending you... I'd feel real threatened too...

I get this every month. What's the big deal?!

I pay using PayPal subscription. This notice comes to my inbox, the next day I get a notice from PayPal that the bill has been paid. Works every time!

he did, lol... it's a payment reminder, not an invoice, if you want your invoices you can likely login to the billing area and get those, this is merely a reminder saying your payment is overdue, that is horrible practice

I'm currently doing manual payments using PayPal monthly. I never get reminders so there's been a few times where I came real close to being late, thankfully I haven't yet though.

Anyone know if there's a way to get these reminders maybe a day or two before payment is due?

Monthly invoices are not sent out via email, so that isn't an invoice but a notice that your account is past due.

You can view your actual invoices at any time at http://www.hostgator.com/billing

And you are pissed off and going to leave because you don't like getting a note referencing your account being past due? Makes real good sense to me then?

I guess I don't understand the problem. My previous host would have just suspended my account without notice.

That is hilarious! You are upset because of an email that EVERYONE AT HOSTGATOR gets? You aren't being singled out, if you pay on time, just ignore it. It is a payment reminder! God, some people are just ignorant.

I don't think I have heard anyone complain about something like that before.

Anyways, you could always block the email, and just hope you remember to pay you invoices on time, and if you forget? Well, that is your fault because you choose not to receive payment reminders.

How can that be a review anyways? Just because you don't like a standard email? That says nothing about the service.

most of you either stupid or brain wash...and look like most of your site on the signature dont make anything...

i pay hosting around $1600-$1800 per month dedicated server and my adsense make around $300-$400 per day

i only used this to store my stuffs and testing script...

oh by the way couple month ago i order semidedicated server and took forever to set it up..and thanks god i cancel it..

i might go sign up http://pc-core.net for dedicated server ...lol

So $300 to $400 per day multiple by 30 days = 10,500.00 aprox. per month or revenue minus the servers at $1800.00 = $8700.00

And you are not able to pay your bill on time?

ya right...

So what's your site so I can go click a few times on your ad-sense and make you a bit more money so you can pay your late invoice for this month?

I don't think the late invoice was the problem... I think what it was, is he didn't like the format of the email, maybe he took it as an insult or something? Who knows? But an email is hardly a reason to cancel.

How are we being ignorant? I think it is the other way around, you don't like it, leave, and close the door on the way out.

Is that one email a month costing you money? Does it bother you that much?

He's a shill, to do the link drop for the pc-core link. It's all a drama queen scenario to get people to look at his, or his buddies link.

The best he could come up with for a complaint was a reminder notice most companies don't even bother to send, they just turn your site off. If anything, he highlighted how nice Hostgator is about billing.

Homer, don't let the door hit ya where the good lord split ya.

Cannot understand how some people don't know when their invoice is due...
It's like having a mortgage and not knowing when to pay it!

With your wealth there are several potential solutions (if you were interested in solving things instead of screaming):

1. You could pay in advance--if you paid for a year, you'd even get a discount.

2. You could get the kind of credit/debit card that allows automatic payment.

3. You could invest in either of several low-tech solutions--for instance, a post-it note with "pay HG 10th" placed in a strategic place. Or something called a "calendar".

BTW, in most forms of human communication, you are less likely to receive sympathy for any complaint when you accompany it with a) insults hurled at your audience; and b) irrelevant claims of success, whether exaggerated or real.
