Maybe somebody can help me out. Using Firefox browser only I was getting an invalid SSL certificate. Not only was I getting an invalid SSL certificate but it was also expired. It was invalid because the name on the certificate did not match my domain name. The only problem with this is I have never purchased an SSL, nor have I ever had a dedicated IP.
I contacted tech support by way of chat twice. The 1st tech insisted that I must have purchased it. How else could it be there he asked me? I kept insisting that I had never purchased an SS L, nor had a dedicated IP which I understand you need for an SSL. As he continued to look into it, I asked him if HG installed it. I did not keep that transcript unfortunately, so I have to say I don't believe he directly said HG installed it, but I got the impression that's what he meant. I also asked if he would show an invoice of when I purchased it. Finally he claimed to have deleted it and it no longer was on my site. In fact he said he was no longer getting the error message, but I might as it could take a little time to propagate. I continued to get it for a while but indeed it did stop. However it was only replaced by a different one. This time it did not say it was expired or it was the wrong name. It said the length was too long. The exact message is " an error occurred during a connection to www.sterlingsweb.net:443 SSL received a record that exceeded the maximum permissible length" (error code: SSL__error_rx_record_to_long After receiving that message I contacted chat support for the second time. Like me, he thought it was a curious problem and said he was checking into it. He then asked me when I purchased the SSL? I smiled at that, as I made it very clear I have never purchased an SSL. I have never needed one, and would certainly know if I purchased one. After some more digging all he could come up with was he's no longer getting the message. He also added that it may be something in the script that's calling it. While I understand that could be a possibility I don't see how. I looked on the SSL checker page (http://www.sslshopper.com/ssl-checke...erlingsweb.net) when talking with the technician, and sure enough it showed a different domain name on SSL certification, and that it was expired. That was the information that came back when typing in my domain name. How is that possible? I do think the first tech deleted something as I no longer got the invalid SS L. But what did he delete any ideas? If it is something in the script that I'm overlooking, or something in the WHMCS which I double checked and don't see anything, how in the world could I get those messages? In any case I am still getting the second message. If anybody can help me with this I would be very grateful. Thank you Steve |

I don't know about the SSL but I just wanted to compliment you on the site/whcms integration, it looks great. I did find 1 spelling mistake, on the home page just below the slide show it says "BakeKit Build Your Own Site"..
Did you buy that template ot o it all yourself?

I bought the template from Zomex. If you dont have the time to do your self and are looking for great work for a good price then I would recommend Zomex. Plus his support afterwards is also great. Dont know if I can post his link or not but he does hang out in these forums and has a great website. Thanks for pointing out I am not having a bake sale. I will fix that right away..
I still get that message error. No body has any ideas on why? I guess I could put a ticket in and see what they come up with.. Thanks Steve Edit:BTW Bernie. I just looked at your site. Great work. Love it.. I was just in FL 2 weeks ago seeing old friends and my family. Fl is a nice place and will go back next year.... Last edited by acsteve; 01-31-2012 at 06:21 AM. |

When you mentioned the error in an email I also saw it but I don't anymore (using the same browser as before - Firefox) since HostGator removed the SSL. If you're still seeing the warning you may want to try clearing your browser's cache/cookies and see if that helps. Jack
