I have been running into a lot of choke points since early this afternoon.
Paypal is having problems, Verizon DSL, the mail server at my school, the mail server at Excite, etc.... Is something going on with the Internet at large? I haven't seen anything on the news. Jeff |

As far as I understand it, the internet can only 'fail' if one of 2 things happen. 1) Every ISP and Host decides to go out of business at the same time, or 2) Civilisation comes to an end.Either way, I'd be rather miffed!

The Internet will "fail" if the DNS servers stop working.

The internet will also "fail" if your ISP is taking a bigger load then it should be.

That's why he says "fail". Aswell as you have to connect to a DNS to get anywhere. I have to setup the DNS manually on my PCs because I like to have each PC have it's own dedicated in-network IP instaed of being assigned by the DHCP on the router.
