Default Installing Oscommerce

Hi,
I am installing oscommerce to my website. I have setup a mysql database and uploaded all of the required files to my server. I have chmod the configure.php files also.

When installing oscommerce is asks me for the database servers ip address or hostname. I have put in my shared ip address but it wont allow that. How can I find out my database servers ip address or hostname?

Thank you,
Jeff Shotnik

prhost is correct, to expand:

mySQL databases are only accessable through localhost by default. From your account, you will always use localhost. If you wish to access a mySQL database from a remote system, you need to add the IP address (or a wildcard) to the mySQL setup page to allow remote systems to access mySQL.

I know ... dead thread, but it's relevant to the question I have.
I would like to access a database I have on one site from another. I have no problem for sites on the same server (shared IP 'localhost') But this one is on a different server.
I've added %.[mySite].com and the shared IP listed in Cpanel as access hosts, but no luck. I keep getting: Can't connect to MySQL server on 'www.xxx.com' (10060).
Is this something that the server must allow access? Does HG allow access from non HG sites?
Thanks
Dave

You don't want to enter the domain name, but the IP address. This is a bunch of numbers. Take the IP of the server you're accessing the database FROM, and add that to the database's allowed IP list.
