I become a reseller few days ago..my old host was good but didn't provide the reseller program.
Once I was cruising my cpanel and I noticed the link to PostgreSQL database and was amazed because they didn't even announced that they will install PostgreSQL... I know that postgre is a bit pain in the ass to install but I also think that you'll help many resellers so they can gain more customers and at the end you'll also earn more from that.... Do you have any plans on installing Postgre ? Thanx.. |

Maybe one day would have to talk with admins to see the implications. For now nobody really cares about it accept for like half a percent of people.

I know that many of you would be happy to have this installed, however I regret to say that I read some industry newsgroups and by the looks of it, PostgreSQL is not as stable as MySQL on cPanel servers. This may explain why our system administrators have not implemented this yet.
Though, I am pretty confident that this will happen in the future, we just need to make sure it is stable enough before diving into it. I am sure you all understand this.

Could it be the POS system called Cpanel and there idiots who compile the application. My biggest problem with cpanel is it is there way or the high way when dealing with there software. They take all package management and toss it out the window. My favorite line from the Cpanel manual states in case of a system error please reformat the system. Though I would like to see hard proof that Mysql is more stable than postgres in the cpanel enviroment like documented proof and benchmarks, before I take hostgators word for it.

I'd also like postgreSQL installed.
Thanks, Dallas (the still-loyal customer of HostGator) |
