Default increase in disk space

If I have an existing aluminum (or other) package and the new aluminum package you are selling increases in size, does my existing package increase automatically or if not can I have it increased at no extra charge.

Example: Disk Space More than Doubled! (Limited Time)

Sure we will upgrade your account if you don't already have 5,000mb of diskspace. Just email us with your account information for the upgrade: sales@hostgator.com

Doesn't seem to work that way for existing customers...

Umm, I was told tough luck by Ben when I asked a few weeks ago. I was told the only way to get the upgrade was to make a new acc't and cancel my old one. Of course I could upgrade to copper and get it as well, but if I downgraded I'd revert to my current levels.

Do note that downgrade costs u $10 non-returnable. So if u upgrade/downgrade, it's like paying $10 to have ur account modified.

Maybe it's only for the shared hosting that you can upgrade without creating a new account?

I was just told the opposite of this less than 2 weeks ago. Of course it cost you more than it cost me and it got my sites more organized and on a faster server so it worked out ok for me.

Actually in that case I was told my acc't would revert back to the previous size, not the upgraded.

That is correct, I read the first post wrong and assumed he was on shared. We only upgrade shared plans. On reseller you must upgrade to the next plan up. Sorry for the wrong information!

I apologize for the confusion, this issue has been updated as shared accounts are upgraded for free but resellers have to email sales@hostgator.com for a listing of the different options and why we we did it this way.
