Imagick support needed
You should strongly consider installing the Imagick php wrapper for Imagemagick. Imagick is a native php extension to create and modify images using the ImageMagick API.
The GD library does not support the JPG images produced by many digital cameras today. It is a growing problem and has not been corrected. Unless or untill GD corrects this problem, there will be a steady move toward Imagemagick. Many commercial scripts are switching to Imagemagick because of this problem, and because many hosts do not allow the use of exec(), most commercial script builders are coding for the Imagick module.

i'd like to second this request. i currently have a few shared hosting packages with hostgator so getting it installed on my server would mean getting it installed on the server of a few hundred people, right?
gd is great but ImageMagick is in many ways more advanced so it would be great if hostgator shared hosting could support it!
