Indeed, all our employees have really come together and just stepped it up. This was one of like 5-6 mobile offices. I have some pictures from my apartment office I'll post them a bit later and try to size them down this time after my scheduled shift is done.

I thank God (capital G) you Gators are all OK, and I am happy that you have been able to take care of business (while watching TV, no less).

Sadly, though, at least 50 people have died. They left families behind. Many others have lost their homes, or are injured.

In our joy that the Gators are fine and have kept the servers running and the tickets answered, let's stop now and then to remember the folks who, because of Ike, aren't OK.

That's Pats house, they actually had the news running to check for status updates on the hurricane damage and getting power back, and all that fun stuff.

I think he had 7 or 8 people working there at the time, there were a couple at the kitchen table as well.

I popped in at his house for a couple of minutes to see how things were doing.... ( I stole some of his Sun Chips!.. they were good.. don't tell him I took some! )

We're back in the office today. We got power late last night and are working on getting things back to normal. Phones are still not up but should be in the next few days.

Newbie not doing anything important yet and living in New Zealand now so am a day ahead of you. I struggled to log on the night of the storm, like moving through cold molasses, then tried again the next morning and couldn't even tell anything had happened. You did a magnificent job of keeping the site up and running.

Although I live in NZ now, I'm a New Orleanian so no stranger to hurricanes. Not there for Katrina but was for Betsy way back in 1965, working in a hospital at night, and right in the middle of the whole thing, so I have a good idea of what you went through.

Thanks for your efforts. I'll remember your performance when I start promoting HG!

Thumbs down Re: UPSET! Hurricane Ike Procedures

This is the first disappointment I've had with HostGator, and I am TOTALLY SHOCKED that it comes in a situation such as this. First and most important, Thank God everyone at HG is OK!! I, too, suffered from Ike, living dead center between Houston and Galveston. I was under mandatory evacuation, and I'm back home now, but my bank has yet to reopen. I pay HG with my bank Visa Card and contacted them through a ticket for a possible extension. NONE GIVEN. If I do not pay by the 10 day grace period, I'm screwed. Given HG is experiencing trouble the same as I, you'd think their hearts would be in the right place to do the right thing! So if my bank does not reopen by Wed. 24th so that I can make a deposit, well, we know the scenario. And there are many, many other banks closed as of today, not just mine.

Unbelievable.

Please provide the ticket number so I can look into this for you, also please keep in mind that extensions have to be cleared by management or a supervisor in most cases.

I found your ticket FKU-2956645. We did not refuse to give an extension, we simply stated that there is a grace period and your account would be fine as long as it was paid within that time frame.

I went ahead and pushed back your due date to October 1st, in the future feel free to speak to a supervisor if you need an extension.

We still have a few employees straggling in as they get power back. We plan to have phones operational again on tuesday allowing more people a chance to come back to work. Thank you everyone for your patience throughout this!

Amki,

I'm from New Orleans too and my girlfriend is now living down here as well. She is originally from Auckland, New Zealand!

Sorry, I tried to PM you but the forum said I couldn't for some reason!
