Huge IMAP mailbox ok?

I have a user who wants to store a very large (5-10 gigabytes) amount of mail on our Level 3 VPS with cPanel. We have plenty of free space, so that's not an issue, and we do have offsite backup, so I'm not worried about disasters. I'm mainly wondering if anyone here has done something like this before and if there are any gotchas I should know about associated with having a mailbox this large.

In case anyone is wondering what it all is: it's correspondence from customers that she needs to keep for her records, going back several years. She uses multiple computers, so storing the email on her hard drive is not a practical solution.

I used to have a huge imap mailbox myself. I don't know if this is factual but... I would notice that as I approached or went over 4gb that my sync and send/rcv would slow dramatically. It may be totally coincidence but I would cleanup things and be normal then reach about 4gb and slow up again.
I now use a hosted ms exchange account with sherweb.com ( about $8 / month for a 25gb mailbox) and have no problems even though I am up to about 6gb. The beauty ism all my computers/devices are all now always in sync including tasks, contacts and calender.

Thanks. If I may ask, was this 4GB in a single folder or 4GB for all your mail combined? She uses a great deal of folders so we should be able to keep it well under 4GB per folder.
