This is hardly a pre-sales question.

.htaccess for Joomla in HostGator servers is exactly the same as in any other (Linux) server.

@striddy
Yes, I appreciate this. I ask because I provide a range of CMS and Joomla resources on my site and wish to quote the correct form if possible. A thread was here on this board, asking this question, and gave a link to my site in connection with this, which is how I got here. I can't view the end result as the thread was moved inside the private forums. Would like to know how it transpired. @quietFinn This may be true. However the original poster, and various replies including at least one very specific one, reported that this was not in fact the case. I can't see what resulted as the thread went private. I like to offer the correct info on my site and would appreciate an update. No criticism of HG at all here of course as many LAMP servers need slightly different scripts - this is quite normal on a LAMP server and for some tasks there is no 'standard' script. As an example I have 6 versions of the basic domain canonical split fix, any one of which may or may not work on a given LAMP server. So although some scripts work on all servers, some don't, you may need a version that works on a particular server when others don't. This is normal and there is nothing 'wrong' about it. I like to offer the correct info to site visitors. Due to the range of OSs including a many different Linux distros and Unix, and many different server apps such as Apache, Lighty, EngineX, Zeus etc - all of which are LAMP servers - there are bound to be differences. |

Depending on what plugin/module you use, the standard .htaccess should work as finn indicated. If you have problems, comment out the
