Soomeone has edited .htaccess file in my server and created htaccess.a2migration.bak
My .htaccess file contained these lines: Quote:
Quote:
This error occurs when I try to follow a link on my webpage: Quote:
Have I to add this line again? Does Hostgator allow or prohibit to use the "SecFilterEngine Off"? Just wondering, because mostly all popular hosting providers allow it. Thanks in advance. |

You can no longer put security rules in the htaccess file, this is new since the upgrade to apache2. The migration.bak file is from the upgrade script, it parses your htaccess stripes out stuff that's not compatible with the new system and writes a new htaccess file. It then saves your original htaccess as htaccess.a2migration.bak.
If you need exceptions for your website you will need to ticket support and ask them to add them.

FWIW, my .htaccess file was heavily modified after the migration, it went from 2 kB to 4 kB (lots of crap was added?). I use rewrite rules for Zenphoto, and it completely messed up the albums. I hadn't caught it until recently, and I simply put it my old .htaccess file from a backup and it works fine now.
Whatever scripts HG was using to update the .htaccess files didn't work so well on mine ... I only found this out through searching through the forums, guess I need to monitor these forums more frequently. An email alert for important upgrades like this would be nice. |

You should file a ticket with support to alert them of their script gone wrong (maybe they can see the before and after) so they can make fixes for the future.
