Yep, most of HostGator is in Houston now. There are still a few people back in Boca, too. If you've talked to us on the phone lately, chances are you spoke to someone in Houston.

Good move, don't know why I should say bad anyway!

So support staff have agreed to move over Houston? (family included?)

Best Regards,

Many of us have moved to Houston, some are staying in Boca. The Boca office is staying open to accomodate those who do not wish to, or can not move to Houston.

But its a blast here. So their loss!

I might be able to smuggle in some pictures soon.

Welcome to Texas Jay...
I lived in Houston for 4 years, it's going to be different...
On your days off go outside of the area and see different parts of Texas.. Another world. No shortage of good eating places there. Oh, ya, you will love the traffic...

I think it would be cool to have a live webcam pointed at the servers... like a security camera feed or something. There was a host I saw a long time ago that had something like that. Really it would just be for fun I guess.

The servers are actually at ThePlanet (Off topic, are they moving to datacenter 2 now with the new upgrades?), you can check there for a virtual tour. http://www.theplanet.com/why_the_planet/data_centers/

some nice stories about HG and the Houston move..

Hostgator bitten by Internet bug

Houston Business Journal - December 29, 2006

[snip]
Hostgator was having so much technology trouble in Houston that one company executive says the entire operation was considering moving to another city.
The problem: Hostgator was unable to secure the sort of Internet connectivity needed to run the business. The local office was relying on a DSL connection, but needed a much more powerful T3 line to operate as it should.

Florida Hostgator makes move to Houston

Houston Business Journal - September 22, 2006
by Jennifer Dawson

[snip]

The primary purpose was gaining access to a larger labor pool. Qualified employees were hard to come by in Boca Raton, Oxley says, so he had to pay higher salaries to workers who ended up having the upper hand.
