There appears to be a problem with the connectivity at the Houston H1 datacenter. This has caused a number of our dedicated servers to fail ping and http checks. Our DC was made aware of it right away and is currently working to get it resolved asap. This should not effect any shared or reseller servers. Please do not open tickets, we will update this forum thread as we learn more information.

This is a routing issue with some of the peering connections and The Planet's Houston networks. Our office's peering connection is working without issue, so if you need us to check and make sure your server is actually online, feel free to contact our live support team and we can check it out for you. We continue to work with our datacenter to get this resolved ASAP and will post updates here as soon we learn more.

We have gotten a bit more details about the issue. There is a problem with the interconnect between the Houston and Dallas datacenters. This is causing all traffic which was routed into the Dallas DC -> Houston DC to fail to make it all the way through. The Planet is working to adjust routes and to correct the issue.
What this means is that if you are not able to connect to your dedicated server (because your current route to the server goes through dallas) that the customers of yours who go directly to the Houston Peering links are able to see your sites without issue. We don't have an ETA at this time, but I spoke with one of the senior network engineers and they are working as fast as they can on this. Once they have a bit more clarity on the exact cause of the problem, they will be able to give us a specific eta for full resolution of the issues. We will continue to update this thread as soon as we receive more information. |

The datacenter found the border router that was having the issue and has routed all traffic around it. The routes are still adjusting, so we expect scattered packet loss while the routes all recalculate, but we expect this problem should be resolved for the majority of our customers within the next 15 minutes.

We have not had any further reports of issues and can confirm that the route adjustments have corrected the issues. If you are still having any issues connection, please contact our admin team with a traceroute from your desktop to your server so we can investigate the routes further.
Thanks for your patience during this difficult time. |

The Planet just brought the border router which had issues back into the fold, there was a period of brief network latency as the routes recalculated, we are showing that it is all back and working now without issue.
