Hosting for UK customers

Hello

I am looking for a good reliable host, where I can host my large raven nuke based CMS and forum.

I am struggling to find a good reliable UK host, and somebody recomended Host Gator

My question basically is does Host Gator have UK based data centres or are all the data centres in the USA, if there are none in the UK will this cause a big problem if I decided to host with Host Gator.

Will there be speed and response issues with all the users being so far away from where the site is hosted.

Any help and response in this thread would be appreciated

do yourself a favor and get a dedicated server with hostgator...UK hosting is extremely expensive! It doesnt matter if hostgator is in the USA, it will be fast!
Thats from someone who has had hosting from hostgator for the last 2 years and have used dedicated servers in the USA since 2001 !!!

hostgator not have hosting at UK.
and its better to have Uk hosting if you require phone support in future, local call is cheaper.

not much option from uk hosting. eukhost is one good uk hosting.

I honestly could not afford a dedicated server, it would be nice to have this but it is just to expensive.

I have read some bad reviews about that particular host so I am a bit unsure on weather it actually is any good at all. ?

Also if it is only the phone support issue and the cost of the call being the only reason why not to use hostgator then I am not concerned by that.

What my main concern is the speed of the site and the response times for my users of the site.

Can anyone actually say weather using host gator for a busy uk forum will have any adverse effects on the issues I mentioned above

Hi Mark,

To be honest there are just to many variables to give an accurate and honest answer to your question, everyones websites can be set up and operated in different ways and add to this speed and connection issues for the end user that are out of Hostgator control, such as from an individuals ISP connection.

However I am from the UK and I can tell you that I host a number of websites on Hostgator servers, one of which serves up large photographic files, and I have no speed issues and uptime has been excellent.

I also help administer a large VB forum which is hosted here at Hostgator and similarly there have been no speed issues and uptime has again been excellent.

As many of you may be aware, we have been discussing implementing cloud hosting for some time now. As a result of this, certain costs do indeed increase. The majority of our Shared Hosting clients are still on our old pricing scheme, which is approximately £10.00 cheaper than our current website prices. The above scenario leaves us with a difficult decision to make. As such, we would welcome the feedback of our loyal

We propose to charge Shared Hosting clients on our old pricing plan a one time fee of £10.00 in order for them to be upgraded to Cloud Hosting. Cloud Hosing will offer clients 100% uptime and also make hardware failures a thing of the past. However, no matter what, this upgrade won't be forced on clients. Clients will be able to keep their old pricing plan and remain on the current servers. In order for us to make this viable we will need to consolidate servers in the near future though.

Cloud computing solution for shared/reseller hosting will add some cost as we will need to buy new stock of high specification servers. We will make cloud of 5 high specification servers out of which one server will always remain idle. Additional licensing cost for the cloud software will be bothered by eUKhost.
