Hosting Subdomain Only

Hi, I want to create a ".blog" subdomain and host it on a hatchling account so I can use all the control panel and Fantastico features. My current host does not have these available. Can I host just the blog subdomain and leave my domain at another host? Thanks.

As an addon yes, as a sub.domain ? I do not think so because the main domain have his DNS elsewhere.
But there is probably a workaround: creating the "Sub" in HG as a domain or some folder even without registration nor DNS and linking there over HGs_server_IP/login/etc. from the main domain. Can be a link or an htacces instruction or perhaps a symlink. I do never tested but why not!
Perhaps tweaking the address bar for to let the main domain there.

If you need a temporary space for test, I open you one for free.

I'm pretty sure you can host it here depending on your DNS setup, but not use all the functions associated with it, like mail.

If you control your dns (or your hosting company will do it), you can create an "A" record pointing to your hatching account ip.

Example:
A blog 10.0.0.1 3600

10.0.0.1 would be replaced with your hatching account ip.

I think what Impavidus mentioned is more along the lines of what I want to do. I have done this type of set up with another host before. Appreciate the feedback, all.
