My very first site was on Geocities.com hmm some 7 years ago now (gawd!). I've tried semi-paid hosting from Geocities (no banners) and Bravenet.com. I have also tried a few start up hosting places too. An average person trying to start a hosting site. BAAAAD idea lol. Very little support, site downtime was crazy, etc.

Since Down the Garden Path's creation in April of 2002, I have been with SimsHost.com. It was a great idea at the time, as the content and concept of the site was new to me. SimsHost.com provided free hosting so long as my site was Sims related. Seemed good at the time. However, NO ftp access, no cgi bin without begging and pleading, definately no mySQL. So, nothing but the basics. And, after a time, I realized that they were making far more money from me as a webmaster there than I liked. Free bandwidth, thanks! But I highly doubt my bandwidth cost $90.00+ US a month (which is what I estimated they made from me monthly).

So here I went searching for yet another paid hosting service. Leery as heck because of previous bad experiences. I found Hostgator.com and was amazed that not only could I pay my monthly fee with PayPal but it provided me ALL the things I wanted, and ample bandwidth for my needs.

After a bit of a rough start (Hostgator was changing some old servers to new servers at the time) Down the Garden Path is now able to provide visitors and subscribers to the site with a much, much better service. The site is growing daily and I am more than satisified with the hosting service and the exceptional customer service they provide.

Cheers and thanks so much for your efforts!
