Hosting A Blogger.com Blog

I currently have a blog hosted on blogger.com linked to a custom domain (www.tylergrubb.com) and am weighing the benefits of hosting my own site to add some subdomains where I can host new html pages. Can I transfer my current domain to host gator and host the new html pages I want as subdomains while maintaining the full user interface and external links to the blog portion of my domain? Is transferring my blog to Wordpress an easier route to accomplish this? And if so, how can I keep my theme/background/widgets without paying Wordpress to customize my theme?

Any advice helps a ton.

- Yes, you can transfer the domain name to HG, Technically you just need to point the domain name server to the one HG provides when you sign up.

- Not sure you can keep the html pages here, n blog there.. it depends a lot of the way blogger / hostgator servers are configured & if they allow that.

- Wordpress, @ least for me, is the better option to do it!

- Although you might find very close, sometimes even identitcal themes, widgets,.... Blogger widgets/themes are NOT compatible with WP

- You don't have to pay WP to customize it for you, there are a lot of free themes / widgets that you can use.

- BTW, the benefits of hosting you own blog goes far more just the HTML pages

Having a blog hosted by Blogger have lots of limits and the best way to end it is by letting yourself get hosting services. You could even transfer your Blogger blogs on Wordpress which is quite better I think.
