Thumbs up HostGator Virtual Private Servers.

Why don't HostGator Start providing Virtual Private Servers Hosting Solutions. I think HostGator Must Start Providing This Service.

We don't have any plans to have Virtual Private Servers in the future. The reason being is you can order an unmanaged dedicated server from us for $75/mo, which is about what a VPS account would cost with another provider.

Totaly agree with you Wesley. And dedicated servers are more reliable than VPS servers

In my opinion VPS is alot cheaper than $75 and of course what if all your dedicated servers are sold out? You should offer VPS. You guys would make a bundle off of it.

That is basically what I was thinking. Perhaps down to $50 though.

I think a dedicated server even the celeron one would be twice powerful than those vps available on most providers. and you are not at mercy of oversold nodes on a single physical box.

anyway i would like to know if getting un-managed box rebooted costs anything in case it stops responding ???

I would think it would be too. Sam's load of 3.++ concerned me when he posted his specs though. Unless a lot was going on. Our server has never seen that kind of load even with updates, backups etc running. And from my understanding through research would be equivalent to a 15.+ load on our 2 dual core processor box

Good question on the reboots, while I would think that would be included, it would be nice to know for sure.

I think as long as Host Gator don't oversell the Virtual Private Servers. We will be alright. A lot of providers oversell VPS.

A lot of providers also don't offer an unmanaged server for $75, which IMO, like ghpk and _Sam_ have said is faster, more reliable, safer and more predictable.

True. But GatorWesley's answer kind of implied that it was what HG would look at for a VPS price.

I got that. Perhaps they need to rethink the space allocation and pricing then.

lol, mine hasn't gone higher than .9 yet.

I don't think it is worth having VPS servers personally, no real reason, it just doesn't suit HG.
