I purchased a video sharing script, ClipShare and would like to get hosted by HostGator because it seems to give the best value for the price.
Here are the requirements: http://www.clip-share.com/product/requirements/ My question is, does HostGator meet all these requirements? I purchased Pro.. so hopefully HostGator meets all requirements. Thanks in advance for any help, I'd really like to get started as soon as possible! |

Not if you're talking about a shared server account. Host Gator's PHP settings for post_max_size and upload_max_filesize are both 64M. But the major constraint would be the max_execution_time setting which is 30 on HG shared servers. ClipShare recommends 1000 "to prevent timeouts during video upload/conversion." I'm not aware of any hosting service that allows that on their shared servers.

This would not be acceptable on a shared hosting environment because of the video conversions. You would HAVE to get a dedicated server because of
# Mplayer + Mencoder (http://www.mplayerhq.hu/design7/dload.html) # Flv2tool (http://inlet-media.de/flvtool2) # Libogg + Libvorbis (http://www.xiph.org/downloads) # LAME MP3 Encoder (http://lame.sourceforge.net) |
