Wow, it is amazing that HG actually doesn't do anything but answer phones and provide technical support. (plus bill people).

They are in the true sense of the word, a middleman, yet the we are all paying for the service because it works so well!

Just goes to show, if you do things right, business will come.

HostGator is not just the middleman, they administrate all of those servers themselves. The Planet just provides the servers.

Right, but still a middle man. Like a record store, they setup the products and catalog them, keep the dust of them, but really, they are a middle man.

If what you're saying is correct the only top-man would be the people who make the raw circuits or records. That saying everyone from Dell to the WebMaster is the middleman.

Like a wholesale reseller. Not exactly what web hosting resellers are.. Like people who buy wholesale dialup and sell.

Actually I wouldn't say they're a middleman. =\ If you sold the web hosting of HG's by taking their accounts and pricing them more like that then yeah. I can say that they are the middleman though when selling servers.

Theres not really any label we fall into. We mostly lease the space from ThePlanet, but the servers are ours and belong to us. You could also say that ThePlanet is the middle man, because they use 10 different ISP's to provide the network. So everyone is really the middle man, theres middle-mans, resellers, and end-users.

Around 18 Gbps backbone net too, they probablly have a comit though on those lines and they're not fully-dedicated.
