Positive HostGator Lost The Plot!

I first started off on the Baby plan (shared) then as everything was fantastic and my site has never been so stable I decided to upgrade to the Aluminium plan (reseller). All within 2 weeks of signing up with HG.

HG upgraded me within a few hours and everything went fantastic, couldn't wish for better. I thought I was in hosting heaven

I was sent my welcome/account details and when I logged in they'd setup my account with my shared primary domain when on the upgrade order I had asked for my other domain as primary domain.

So I contacted live support (who in the very few times I've contacted them always say email in) who directed me to a form to fill in to change the accounts primary domain.

No problem and off I went. When I got to the bottom of the form it said I had to agree to a $5 fee.

Hey! I thought whilst it's only $5 it wasn't my fault upgrades messed up.

That was the last straw and hence why I cancelled my HG account and moved to another host.

I wasn't happy about the ads in shared cpanel and the ads on error pages.

HG have this active idea of putting ads where they can without telling customers. Sneaky ...

People don't pay to have ads put upon them. Whilst they are not much and acceptable it's the future of HG I question and it's not one I am prepared to be used through.

HG is getting very commercialised at customers expense

Positive Re: HostGator Lost The Plot?

Hi

I thought it only fair to reply given I was quick but, rightly so, to complain.

I know it's belated but, it's better late than never

HostGator half admitted they made a mistake (overlooked).

This I accept and understand and I commend HostGator for admitting when this happens rather than hide behind a lie and blame customer(s) when things go wrong.

I have re-signed back up with HG on shared baby plan and I am more than happy to do so.

I would like to add that, until the above upgrade from shared (baby) to reseller (Aluminium), I had not one single problem with HostGator (features, services and support), in fact I was in hosting heaven

The actual upgrade was faultless and very fast apart from the domain ext. mistake (overlooked).

I am pleased to be back with HG. I have been hosted elsewhere but, in all honesty the server stability, speed, features and support we're never as good as they are with HostGator.

I am soooooo pleased to be back and even more pleased HostGator had me back

Hope this helps
