What are you trying to access? Your site, or something at the hostgator site? FTPing into your own account is usualy just yourdomain.com with username and password on port 21.

You would use ftp.yourdomain.com or your IP in the host box if the domain is not active yet. Then your username and password.

for wsftp_le use the ip address for host name

in the general tab:
profile name: anything you want - domain name is easiest
host name/address: use ip address (wont give you mine incase we on different servers)
host type: UNIX (standard)
user ID: your login name
Password: your password
account: blank
comment: blank

anonyous: unchecked
save pswd: checked

in the startup tab (optional)
initial local directory: put the path to your folder that has your web stuff, default is C drive I believe.

if you want to see 'everything' (meaning .htacess files etc) you'll have to put -la in the box, hostgator also limits the file view to I think it's 2000 so do not put everything in one place unless you dont wish to make changes, especially if you use images (main and thumbs) seperate them, is more work but at least you'll be able to work around it. (real stupid idea that limit).

to add -la, bottom of the general tab, put it in the 'remote file mask' box, leave all the rest blank

there is also an option (in options) to force lowercase, this is often good practice but your code must be lowercase to, as Image.jpg is different to image.jpg

wsftp is a good ftp program but one fault is it times out after a while, and on a real slow connection can hang (but they all can). Don't try upload a million files at once, do it in blocks, say 100 at a time. any more and you could find it hanging half way through, and if you have over 2000 files, start uploading from Z (from the end) rather than the front because if it does hang you'll have no idea what files are uploaded if you pass that stupid limit number.

if you have the pro version, HG have a flash help file in the help section, no ida whats in it as it's a flash file - not everyone uses or wants flash
