Question HostGator to become a Certificate Authority?

From the "one and only" (gag) Wikipedia, a CA is defined as:

Quote:
a certificate authority or certification authority (CA) is an entity which issues digital certificates for use by other parties.
I do believe that HostGator uses another CA for SSL certificates, (verisign for an example) And I was wandering if they had any motives to become their own CA, like another web host (starts to shudder) "GoDaddy"

Just an idea,

Tobias

GoDaddy was initially a CA and domain name registrar. They went into web hosting as a secondary business service so it's really not the same situation as HG is in.
