Default Is host gator up to the task?

I am currently hosting a site on dot5hosting. Last night they had some problems and email has been down for 24 hours!!!!! how can a business run like that? It cant!

My needs are simple.

flash / php and some database.
200+ emails with at least 2-5 gigs per box
WITHOUT EMAIL GOING DOWN!

We get maybe 1000 unique hits per month but lots of email tranfers
the email boxes need to be large because its an advertising company and need to send wav files etc.

Would host gator be able to host us without slow down and without email going down.

I am looking at the business plan for 15/month

Would the transition with the domains etc be painless? dot5 actually didnt ell me i had to log into a hidden portal to change dns information when i transferred to them.

thanks
- Caleb

Do you mean 200+ mailboxes (user logins) or 200 email addresses across a lesser amount of mailboxes?

Shouldn't be any problem at all. Just to clarify, on any shared box there is a *chance* that a service can fail, but on our machines we monitor them very rigorously (it's part of our job as administrators).

With something like email it's hard to guarantee 100% uptime, just because there are so many possible points of failure, but on our end and our servers we strive to have the mail services running and operational all times.
