Will Host Gator move a site and forum from an old host?

I have a website and forum hosted by 1and1 and I opened an account here in order to move that site here after some initial testing. I've moved websites from one server to another, but none that had a forum and database. I want my members and visitors to experience as little down-time and interruption as possible. Does Host Gator provide this service and have any of you availed yourself of it?

Best way:
contact support with all the logins and PWDs so they investigate the probleme and give you an opinion on HG's ability to transfer.

the best effort to minimise the downtime is DIY migration. which i more prefer and no waiting from support at all.

you must signup hostgator first, then migrate the site over.
hostgator will help if you need. they will need access to your existing hosting cpanel.

at HG, With the site and database setup already... then you make the namserver changes ASAP. By this, your migration interuption will be minimized.

One of the difficulties is that you can't set up an add-on domain until you change the DNS settings.

But you can setup a directory like the addon and test it over the IP (or the main domain if it's propagated)
