Well, I cancelled my service after just a couple of weeks. I followed the cancellation procedure to the letter. Now, according to their refund policy, it is no questions asked and a refund the same day as the cancellation. It has been three days and I have not gotten my refund. I filed a grievance with the BBB in Houston, TX. They are looking into it as of today. I have exact copies of all of the emails I have sent to them asking for my money and I have all of their responses; acknowledging the cancellation but ignoring my request for my refund. I KNOW they will delete this post but this is only the beginning of me letting the WWW know about their lies and deceit. I am posting everywhere there is a review of this company AND I am posting their emails as well as mine for everyone to see. I am filing a complaint with the FTC as well....

If they said they have cancelled your account and have issued you a refund then I have every confidence that is what they have done.
You need to realise that a refund can take anything up to 14 days to show up, especially if you used a credit card

They were paid through PayPal. Refunds are instant! They have never even replied to my request for my refund. Does that sound reasonable to you? Do you work for them? Sounds fishy to me......

So you have waited a total of 3 days, you sure are impatient.
It matters not that you paid through paypal, it can still take up to 14 days to refund you. The only thing fishy here is your so called complaint. EDIT: And what Gwyneth said to.

1. Do not call me son
2. I do not work for Hostgator. 3. If you have it handled then go and cry somewhere else

Funny, now my refund just showed up! VERY BAD BUSINESS! They advertise SAME DAY refund but it took me three days and two compalints to the BBB and FTC to get action. If you love them, more power to you; I did too until I cancelled my account (for my own reasons, nothing they did) and they refused to follow their posted statements.....

Three days before complaining to BBB does not sound reasonable to me, and I would be surprised if BBB thought so, either. Have you tried calling the 800 number above the forum? Quote:
The fact that other customers defend HG may indicate that, unlike you, they have been satisfied.

I really wouldn't worry about a BBB complaint. Talk about useless

this saves everybody's time. When i joined as a customer I had one client, today i've 1000+ that would have been impossible without Hostgator. Forum members answer other members and others do come forward to help you when you need, this doesn't mean we are employed here. Lastly you reported this to BBB and FTC, thats sick, these two deptt. do know how good and honest Hostgator business is. |

@ Big John,
what was the plan that you bought that was so urgent to have the money back? It seems to me that you are someone from the competition trying to make look bad HG but the only one that is looking bad is you, that needs so urgent a refund of what, us$6.00?

It would be nice if the OP would let us know how the complaint fares with the FTC, where I'm certain an inofficial copy will be placed with other treasured communications.
The worst thing is that he will undoubtedly think that posting this--and the virtually identical review--was responsible for the refund showing up, instead of the normal end to a normal transaction.

Sergio and David, we should be clear to anybody reading this that our real problem is neither the OP's desire for a refund, nor that the amount of money is so small, but his claim to have raised the issue with the Better Business Bureau AND the Federal Trade Commission when said refund had not appeared at his end within 72 hours of requesting it.

I think the refund request page does say that, and if the refund was already being processed--as it appears it was--it wasn't being ignored. But you're right, it is over.
