I've designed and I'm hosting a site for a client who owns a holiday cottage.
She want's to have an online booking system, does anyone know of one? Or have they any experience in using one? If anyone can program one up, what would be the cost? Cheers

Does she use an electronic booking system on the computer at the cottage? If she does the people who made it may be able to put together an online version.

Hi.
We use GlobalKeys KeyRes system extensively. You may see an example of the system in action (from user's view) at beachcomber-hotel.com/rates-reservations/rates-reservations.html Just select a date and go thru the system. We are official representatives for GlobalKey and have this system on many of our hotel and spa websites. We set this up on user's sites no charge. For establishments with 1 to 5 rooms the cost is around US$50 (approx) If you like it give me a "hoy". Cheers

Thanks for the input, I thought my question might have been seen as off-topic.
esl: At the moment, she is using a system via a 3rd party site; http://www.sykescottages.co.uk/ and this is working great for here, however since she deicided to have a website of her own she would like to see some sort of feature that at it's basice would allow people to check availability. chaloupe: Thanks for the info, the list looks promising and I'll have a look at the available options you've supplied. Kimbot: The system looks really good, would be interested to know more and how much, thanks. Once again folks thanks for the input

Yo pjpf
The KeyRes system is in use in hundreds (maybe thousands) of hotels, resorts and such world-wide. The owner/company is GlobalKey and Australian business. We (Carsena Tech, my company) are reps for them in South Thailand. Koh Samui (island) to be precise. The system is easy to use from the user's point of view, and even I can understand the management interface - and that is saying something The cost of the system is based on how many rooms the property has. They do not use or charge commissions, it is a simple pay-for-it setup. Properties with 1 to 5 rooms would cost US$45 to $50. (PER MONTH) The billings come direct from GlobalKey / KeyRes::::::: The system offers full client management, room allocation, automatic room re-allocations, automatic "other property" suggestion if the room is not available for preferred date (lets the client make a deal with another cottage to take on any overflow of reservation requests) and a host of other features. If you would like to see a demo of the admin interface, email me at kim@carsena.net and I'll send you access info for a demo site. BE sure to check out the open source and other php solutions such as suggested by Chaloupe. I begain using KeyRes after wasting a lot of time on various other systems, especially (sadly enough) open source solutions which always seemed to have very time consuming bugs. Never had a problem with KeyRes, but then I guess you get what you pay for - or not. Cheers
