I know this may sound a little stupid, but maybe a lot of you have the same problem I have. I need some pages to link my site to improve my Google PageRank, and I´m sure many of you need it; i´d like to suggest HostGator work with us in a hidden links exchange program, letting Hostgator add code at the end of all our pages with links to other members of the program. Maybe we could do something like this on all pages or just on the ones who subscribe; would hostgator help with that?... and, would you look over joining the program?...and, finally, in the case HostGator won´t help, would you like creating a community for hidden links exchange?... Come on, we all need a high Google PageRank, what do you say?

that's incredibly foolish, and i'll tell you why.
hidden links are not appreciated by google; they mean for their pagerank to indicate, you know, the page's rank, not what the webmaster can trick it into being rated. there are two reasons why you should not do this: 1. google, if it discovered your clever ruse, would not be happy, and would probably remove your ranking just as many search engines ignore text on the same-color background. 2. it's a dirty trick and very dishonorable. one of these reasons is selfish, one is not. furthermore, i doubt hostgator would start such an exchange; encouraging this activity (which is fraudulent, although it is completely legal) would be encouraging its users to participate in scamming the biggest search engine in the world, and that doesn't look good.

I just thought it would be a good idea, cause ir worked for aplus.net.... aplus added a hidden link to their page to all of their customers and that worked, now they are in the first page when you search for servers and on the second one when searching for hosting... but, if you say google won´t appreciate it, then I´ll start working for real pagerank... thanks and sorry

that said, i'm not certain of exactly how much google would care; however, i've always tried to be careful around that sort of company. i suppose you should use your own discretion in this?

Hi,
One problem I see here is that, since links will be added to your page without your knowledge, your page may have links to websites with low pagerank (or bad reputation?!). Instead of improving your pagerank, this could backfire on your rank. It may even improve in the average, but, in my case, I would prefer not to have links added to my pages. Just my 2 cents |

Not anymore but a long time ago (Infoseek was big, if you remember) I worked with a search engine promotion company - my partner and I could get a #1 listing under any key words in less than 5 minutes. We knew the process so well we automated it with keystroke recording macros and would run batches once a day to ensure all of our clients were highly ranked. This business was a tough one to keep up with because search engines were constantly changing, trying to beat guys like us... anyway - long story short - every single company we promoted using our servers and any servers or domains registered to us disappeared from their listings one day... just GONE! We pretended to not know what was going on and call as "concerned customers" but got nowhere. Fact is, we cheated the system and the man beat us down... all said and done, we deserved it. We could have worked around it but technology grew too fast... Nowadays, there are tons of methods to get on top, for a short while, but the ones that you see stay up there are the ones that EARN it... in fact, I recommend that anyone interested in high ranking study their competitors like a friggin' scientist... do link checks on them... count the words on their pages (yes, seriously)... count keyword/title word ratios - make up your own science if you have to.... and then EMULATE, do not copy. Learn, why are they best? And remember that pages with identical content were removed from listings long ago
Don't be a rip-off, be a flatterer  and hope for the best. repeat if necessary (it will be necessary) That's my one cent (I need the other one)
