Unhappy HI, I really need some help Creating it!

Hi, I Downloaded PHP-NUKE to my Crogramfiles. (hope someone knows what that is..lol)

I edited Config.php, to my liking. Then i uploaded those files to my FTP. Then i made a mysql database, and i ran nuke.sql through the sql tab in phpmyadmin. I have a theme that i want to use for the site. (like a template i got from www.nukemods.com) So i think everythings ready....But now how do i Put up the site? Is there a button that says activate or something lol. THANKS!

Thumbs up Re: HI, I really need some help Creating it!

Looks like this thread needs to be moved you're already a customer

Okay what you need to do is upload the files make sure the PHP ones are uploaded in ascii mode and the images in binary.

As an alternative I find it simpler to ZIP the files on my computer then upload the archive to the server and then in file manager (cPanel) unzip the archive onto the server (select the file then on the right menu choose extract).

I'm not sure about the latest version of nuke but that should do the trick... as long as you have populated the database (as you did) and correctly edited the config.php to connect to the DB file all you need to do is go to the directory where you uploaded nuke. Then finish up the install instructions, enter and create the admin/superuser account.

If you wanna secure your site apart from security addons like Sentinel I would recomend you protect your config.php file (set to read only permission after you have set things up to your liking) and also restrict access to the admin file in htaccess so only your IP (or IP range) is allowed to access it.

Good luck.

Antonio

Do i have to edit the config.php again? I think it says so in the install text.

Anyways at the end it says to go to http://yourdomain.com/admin.php, mine doesn't show up.... If this is phpmyadmin (i already have this in my control pannel) Now what? Also, i installed php-nuke in Public_html-(Mywebsite) Thats correct right? Thanks!

EDIT* Would it be because i didn't cancel hosting for my same web page? Well this is my friends account, and i we used to host on www.fortunecity.com, but they pretty much jipped us, so we came on here. I don't think he has deleted his service? Maybe the Web name is already there? Or is this not an issue. (for example my site is www.airsoftstim.com and the default "In contruction" is the one for fortunecity) THANKS!

Whoa! I thought u had already edited it for your webspace at HG I assumed this was your first install. Anyway no that is not phpmyadmin that is php-nuke's admin panel. To get to phpmyadmin you need to log-in to your cpanel go to the mysql section create the database and user and then go into phpmyadmin (link at the bottom of the mysql page in cpanel.

Maybe the simplest route for you would be to just go to fantastico and have it install phpnuke for you (you just fill in the forms with the data it asks you for and press the install button). Then upload your theme to the theme directory and you are good to go.

I guess.. that depends if you wanna use the domain on your HG space... for that you would need to move it over to HG's nameservers (you have that data in your welcome email sent out as soon as you subscribed to HG's services). Otherwise your phpnuke install should be independent of this.

Antonio.

Ok now i'm really confused...I used fantastico to install php, and it made a new databae "Nuke" something. But i still don't know where to upload my theme? And even when i do www.airsoftstim.com is still the same cheesy layout that it was before we had hostgator. ITs the default one for fortunecity. THANKS!

Hi

Like I told you before if you wanna use that domain you need to point it to HG's nameservers the details with which to do that are included in the email u received after you subscriber HG's service.

After you install phpnuke from within cPanel/Fantastico you should go to the folder in which it was installed (as you fill in the form to install fantastico you yourself will define the directory in which fantastico is installed!

for example if you selected 123 as your install directory your themes folder is

/public_html/123/themes/
