Can anyone tell me if it's possible to use any of HG's 4500 website templates with their Swsoft Sitebuilder? I've downloaded several templates, but I can't figure out how to get the Sitebuilder wizard to find them. I've searched the forum, knowledgebase, and tutorials, and can't find anything on this. If I can't do it with Sitebuilder, can I use either the Site Studio or SohoLaunch provided by HG to edit these templates? I'm very green at this...

You cannot edit the templates with Sitebuilder, Site Studio or SohoLaunch.
Website builders (such as Sitebuilder, Site Studio, and SohoLaunch) work in a fundamentally different way than templates. A website builder uses what is known as a content management system (CMS), where the content of your website is stored in a database. When someone looks at your website, the content is pulled out and put into a web page that is generated on the fly. The templates HG provides are for creating static websites. In order to edit them you need to know how to (1) edit html code, (2) graphics, and (3) flash (if you use a template that includes flash). If you don't know how to do these things but want to learn, you might want to consider taking a class or finding an experienced web designer who will teach you. There also are books that explain how to do these things. |

Thanks episkey. That explains a lot (even thought it wasn't the answer I was hoping for!)
I'll continue on my learning curve, and am grateful to have folks like you around to steer me in the right direction.
