Default HG Nameservers on VPS?

Hello, I have a dedi and a reseller account with HG myself and I have a client that is being pushed to get an expensive rubbish spec dedi with a hefty setup fee with another hosting company. Her site is not that busy IMO, I think a VPS would proably do.

At my suggestion we have ordered her a VPS with HG and I'm looking at the domain config with the registrar Namesco, who don't seem to support registering private nameservers, but I could be wrong. The fastest and easiest thing for us would be to just use HG nameservers instead because we're having site stability issues for over a week and we're a bit pressed for time, but I was told by HG chat support just now that we HAVE to use the private nameservers? Is that correct?

Assuming you are running BIND on the VPS, you create the private nameservers on your VPS not at the registrar.

I think the easiest thing for you to do is to use the same domain for the VPS nameservers you use for your dedicated.

You were told correctly. VPS and dedicated servers require the use of private nameservers.

This should be done at your registrar. You may need to contact them if setting them is not readily apparent. Sometimes the function is a bit hidden because most people don't ever use it.

If you have any other questions about DNS feel free to submit a support ticket or reply here and we'll be glad to assist you.

Thanks for the advice and ideas. It turned out with a support email to Namesco that they will add private nameservers for you manually, it's not something in their admin panel.
