HG cannot stop the forum spam?

Is it just me, or are any of you getting uncomfortable about HG's inability to stop the spaming in the pre-sales forum? Yes i understand forum spam is inevitable and the pre-sales area is pubic postable.

That being said, it seems like there is something that could be done to elimate this daily automated invasion?

I love HG and believe in its security and stability. I host my main enterprise sites here and many clients. But...

I was glad to see them restore the ability to report a post. Look for the red triangle with white inside and a black something (exclamation point?) in the middle. Simply click it to report a post.

I actually did that on one set of spam posts that showed up, and I have a hard time thinking I was the only one. The problem is that it still took hours (I think about 8 or so) for those posts to get deleted. And then they didn't ban the poster and he/she came back and posted some more!

I will also add that they haven't shown up again since the incidents that led up to this discussion. Either they have blocked the IP or implemented a spam filter for vBulletin. I know that one exists and works fairly well. I moderated another forum that had it in place and it did wonders on catching that kind of garbage. It simply put the post(s) into moderation, and they could be deleted and the poster banned without the community ever seeing them. Once in a great while a valid post would get moderated, but not many.

Give them time, they'll be back. They have been posting in mass for about 2 weeks now. They come, get banned, and then return a few days later.

As far as HG's vBulliten goes, it's so outdated I doubt they have any up-to-date plugins installed...

They always get in the way especially if you are in a hurry looking for the best answer to your query. I just hope they can assign an assistant moderator to monitor this issue.
