Okay, I searched, but I couldn't find something like this.
My main account's domain is onthedial.com. I have the Swamp Croc w/ 1 add-on domain, so I used Cpanel to create the add-on domain mike-uhler.com. It is pointed to the subdirectory "mu" under my main account's public_html folder. So my question is, what kind of paths do I use to make it understand that I am trying to access the image folder under mu? I have the index.html page set up to read a background image from a css file and there is an image in the page, but they both are broken. I've tried: /mu/images/file.jpg mu/images/file.jpg /images/file.jpg images/file.jpg None of which seem to work. I want this to seem flawless to an outsider, so it's pretty important that I get these paths to work, lol. I am about to remove the add-on domain and re-add it or something. Maybe I added it incorrectly? I don't think the "Username/directory/subdomain Name:" is very self-explanatory on the Cpanel screen. Any help would be great, thanks! Let me know if this isn't enough info. ~Dana |

Although it seems like the addon is a subdomain, it's really not. It is still it's own seperate domain with it's own seperate paths. So your path would just be mike-uhler.com/images/file.jpg

Hm, but that doesn't seem to explain why my images are broken. Does that mean I have to use an absolute path in all of my links and images?
Also ... my site seems to have gone down just now ... :? Thanks again. |

This is why your links are broken:
http://mike-uhler.com/mu/images/desktop.jpg It should be http://mike-uhler.com/images/desktop.jpg

Actually, I have tried that before. What you are saying is I would need to use a full URL to get the images and links to work, but that doesn't seem to be the case either:
Here are three examples - Index 1 (uses src="images/">) Index 2 (uses src="/images/">) Index 3 (uses src="http://www.mike-uhler.com/images/">) NONE of these work! So how are addon domains supposed to be handled? This is starting to really confuse me because I would've gotten a reseller account if I can't have two domains on this account that behave as if they are two separate web sites. Thanks. |

Well I noticed when I put the full link of the picture into my browser, it came up as it being forbidden for me to view. I would suggest checking your permissions on the pictures and make sure they're readable. It SHOULD be acting as two seperate domains with their own paths.

Thank you!!
That folder did not have "read" permission for the World, just user and group I think. |
