Question Help! From an HG Newbie

Hey, All

I've been using Kiosk and Wealthy Affiliate hosting but have have canceled my accounts with them. I have a couple of existing domains that I will be hosting here. One I have already changed the nameservers on. My problem is with CPanel. The only Username/PWD I have are the ones I created when I purchased the hosting package(Baby). The welcome email sent me a link to my CPanel and a link to my site(which, of course, won't have anything on it). When I use the CPanel link, I get a dialog requesting a user name and password. My billing username/pwd doesn't work. The site link takes me to a page that has the CPanel icon and a number of different things on it. When I click the CPanel Icon I get the same thing as before.

How do I get the Cpanel info set up? Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Jeff

The welcome email you received should have a username and password listed to log into the cPanel. When you try logging in what happens exactly? Do you get an error message? Have you tried logging in on a different computer? cPanel uses ports 2082 or 2083 so you would need to be sure that any firewall on your computer is not blocking that port. You might also try using http://cpanel.yourdomain.com to access and try logging in there.

If it still does not work I would suggest opening a ticket with support by going to https://tickets.hostgator.com and ask the techs to have a look.

Red face Re: Help! From an HG Newbie

Thanks, Man

I was being dumber than an experienced SW Engineer should be. I thought I had capitalized part of the password when, in reality, it was all lower case. As soon as I get the egg off my face, I'll start trying to get things set up.

Thanks again for your reply.

Jeff

Oops, I'm being dense again. I meant username instead of password. I think I've been on this thing too long today and I've still got two webinars to attend.

Glad you got it sorted. Linux is case sensitive so that can cause problems at times. Same type of thing happens with filenames and folder names since they are case sensitive on linux and not on Windows. Welcome to the forum.
