Default Help with downloading files from Supra

As mentioned in the other thread, we are in the process of retiring the Supra box due to a series of unfortunate and unpredictable events. All customers who choose to remain with us will have their files transferred to a new server before February 18th.

For those of you that have chosen to move to a new hosting provider and require help downloading your files from Supra, please post your questions in here.

Unfortunately, we are unable to offer support of any other kind for users on the Supra machine at this time.

Thank you for your continued support and patience.

While we do not possess the manpower to physically transfer the data of so many sites, we will be glad to help you to do it yourself. All you need is a basic FTP client such as CuteFTP or WS_FtP and these are available from sources such as www.download.com I would personally recommend CuteFTP. It is not free, but it does come with a free trial period which is more than enough to get your files transferred.

Justin whenever I try to access the server by ip address it does not work. This is the error message I get:

The page cannot be displayed
The page you are looking for is currently unavailable. The Web site might be experiencing technical difficulties, or you may need to adjust your browser settings.

So how do I access it to get my files?

I've tried two different ftp programs as well and I can't get to the server.

When logging in via FTP, are you using just the IP and not IP/username? That is the proper way to do it.

If you're doing it the right way, please PM me your login details and I will check from my end.

Thomas - I've got a potentially stupid question: Why can't you just print it? Why got through the extra steps of copying and pasting?

I've uploaded my previous backup file generated from cpanel (*.tar.gz) into <public_html>, so how can I unzip it?

Can I do it online without getting help from HG?

will you be able to transfer SSL certificates for us? and if we use the evacuate code will that give us a free account plus credit for 3 months? I would find it a bit unfair to have to pay for a whole new account (we paid up front) and then only get 3 months credit on that say if we had 7 months left or so.

Since we cannot provide command line access on the server, you will need to unzip it on your local computer and then upload the contents to your server.

Be careful with this! Only load files that you actually created - not system files. Remember, the Cpanel that created your backup is corrupted, and I have seen some light corruption in some of my unzipped files.

(Use "Stuffit" to unzip. Free trial at download.com)

Hi Justin. Yes. Just the ip address. It's suppose to ask for user and password once it finds the site. It's not getting that far.

Won't this screw up Linux permissions if you unzip it to a WinTel machine and upload from there?
