Hi all,
This is my 1st hosting package to buy so i spent a lot of time going through all the deals available out there, i decided on the swamp package mainly because of the site building demo advertised, i found it very easy to use and the fact that i dont have any html knowledge what so ever it made sense to me, but im totally lost already. I`ve been through the cpanal from top to bottom but i cant find it , i ive also been through the support section an i can only find a reference to a site building tool called sitestudio, which is one of the tools i was trying to avoid. Can anyone tell me how i go about finding the site builder advertised and the 4500+ templates. Id be really grateful, thanks a million. Hue |

You can request to have the SiteBuilder set up on your account at https://secure.hostgator.com/sitebuilder.php and the templates are at http://templates.hostgator.com.

I also have swamp, and to be honest I would have thought you would be far better looking at something like Joomla to build your site. As far as I am aware sitebuilder offers a basic website design which is great but thats as far as it will take you without any more personal knowledge, where as a cms based system can look almost the same as a standard website but you, can add and remove content without any rela requirements of knowledge.
If it will help you out at all, I will gladly help you get started with a Joomla based site. (By help out I mean I wont charge you) Try using the fantastico installer, install several of the items to see how they work, look feel etc, just during the installer app, ensure you put each one into a sub folder. At the top during the installer it asks for the domain to install it into, this will likely already be right, below it it asks for a folder, in here I would, for example type Joomla if I am installing joomla, this is of course only for testing. Hope that helps. You wont do any damage and you wont run out of space, and from the same location you can simply uninstall it if you dont like it, but I recommend Joomla since you can have access to some 1500 pre-built templates, its free, and offers a huge number of components and modules to enhance your site content. I agree with the open source site, though I have to admit I found that many of them are often not working.
In regards my suggesting joomla, this was of course including some help from me on getting the user familiar. My philosophy has always been try it, play around, dont worry if you break it, and then remove it. |
