Having Trouble setting up 2nd forum on 2nd website

I upload the phpbb forum files to the forum folder of my #2 website but it is effecting the functionality of the forum on my #1 website...

Any advice welcomed.

It would be easier to offer advice if we had more details. What type of problems are you seeing?

Well the main problem I saw was that when the forum files were added to site#2 I was unable to login to the control panel of site#1.

I deleted the forum files from site#2 and I was able to log into the control panel of site#1.

OK are we talking about to totally separate web sites here?

As in:

www.website1.com

www.website2.com

Also you didn't just copy all the phpBB files from site number one and placed them on site number 2 did you?

That's right Keith - totally different websites.

Nope I didn't just copy them from site#1 - it was a fresh install.

OK 2 more questions

1. Did you use the same data base for both forums?

2. Did you use fantastico to install your forum?

1. Do you mean the same hostgator acct? Yes. I use the same hostgator acct and put the second forum in the site#2 folder.

2. No.

Can anybody point me to a good online guide for installing phpbb forums into a hosting setup such as hostgator (which has all websites in the www folder)?

I am uploading it into my site#2 folder just fine, but the problems seem to start there - I am fairly sure it is effecting my login abilities at the site#1 forum and it is erroring out when I hit "install" for site#2
