It appears to work for me...
It will take up to 48 hours to update dns.

For me, the one without 'www.' loads to www.effective-designs.com

So, I don't see a problem?

I just talked to a customer support agent and he advised me to edit the .htacess file.

Now, even though I have the .index file uploaded to the /www folder, it still leads me to the hostgator start page.
