Hi there. Im not sure where to post this as none of the forums seem appropriate, so sorry in advance.
Im extremely new to all of this, and I am having a tough time getting everything setup properly. I've changed the nameservers on godaddy, now though I am unsure of what to do on hostgators side. Was wondering if anyone could point me int he right direction. Thanks

You just need to upload your home page to the public_html directory on your account.
The catch is that the nameserver change could take a day or two to propagate through the DNS system. There isn't really anything you can do to speed up the process - there are simply a huge number of DNS servers out there that need to get the update. |

Thanks for the quick reply.
Hmm it's been two days now since I updated the nameservers. It must be an issue with my index.html file then. This is going to sound really daft, but is the index file supposed to link to the website html files? Because my index file is the homepage starter(..index) for the site im putting up. Sorry, Im just learning the setup of these things. |

Let's say your primary domain is example.com. When you point a browser to example.com, the server looks for public_html/index.html, and serves that file up - it's the default page for the domain, so the name doesn't have to be spelled out in the browser address bar. It's your home page.
If you have a page called public_html/something.html, on the other hand, you would access it by pointing your browser to example.com/something.html. You have to specify the name, because it's not the default. |

Yes, you'll have to contact GoDaddy. The nameservers aren't pointing to Hostgator, and the domain is "parked" in one of those "for sale" places. There's no indication that you own it at all.

You should be able to log into the domain management section at GoDaddy and change the nameservers to the ones given in your setup email.
