As one of the early beta testers of VOIPo, I've had the service for a few years now. Tim has put together a very solid platform with a very good feature set, a decent website (mostly easy to navigate, not too flashy), and an outstanding support and back-end technical team. If you're considering switching from your old Ma' Bell POTS (Plain Old Telephone System) line to a VoIP line, do yourself a favor, and check out Voipo.

Since Vonage just raised their rates, this may be a good alternative.
Personally, I'm trying out MagicJack right now. At $60/5 years, I figure I better try em quick before they fold. |

Looks like it only works in USA and Canada, but I am from UK.

USA is the main target with calls to Canada included.
They will likely expand to Europe eventually, but it would not likely be soon. Canadian numbers see a long ways off for now. One cool thing is you can forward to SIP URLS, and you can point other services to the VOIPo SIP URL. I have a Voip.ms Canadian number pointed at my VOIPo number. The Mother-in-law can call from Canada for free. ![]() I love the powerful call filters for inbound and outbound too!

I cant get VOIPo in Australia but I use a local VOIP provider. No PSTN (phone type hardware) on at the exchange. I run it on a naked extreme line and have one call in and one out capability.
18c untimed calls and you can have a number for any geographical location. So like someone else said...local call for them. Benefits: Price Not having to pay a monthly PHONE fee More than one line Different geographical location Drawbacks: If the power goes off so does my phone (router needs power...although there is a 3G network fallback) Cant use a fax on it (not actually a phone line) I dont get any echo but my customers do Would I go back to a PSTN line? Never As long as you have mobile phone reception or a backup PSTN line then its a very efficient and cost effective tool. |
