I have several questions before I sign up

I have completed my homework and I have to say that HostGator(GatorHost, user dependent) seems to be what I desire.

I would like to know a couple of things before I go into an agreement with HostGator:

1. Has HostGator in the past, now or in the future plan on attaining special individuals to flash on the main page to get future Webmasters to sign up?


2. Has HostGator in the past, now or future call said Webmaster about domains expiring or Hosting plans expiring within the next three to six months and make it sound like it will expire tomorrow and if I do not act quickly that it will be really, really bad?

3. Considering system resources and actually server stress, will I receive a call or an email to an email address not related to my domain before or during the time my account is suspended? I would have no issue with my site being pulled, it would mean that finally that I have attained a status that I have been desiring.

I have no idea what you are referring to in #1. As for the other questions, HG does not call or contact you with the type of pressure you describe in #2. You do not have to register your domains with HG, you only have to change the nameservers with your registrar. All registrars will contact you before the domain expires with plenty of time to renew. As for the hosting plan, depending on whether you pay yearly or monthly you will receive an invoice notice when it is due. HG also has a ten day grace period and you will receive notice if your payment does not go through in time.

It is wise to use an email address not related to your domain so that if the site is suspended you will receive the notice. You can also contact Live Support if you notice the site is down to get a status on the account.

Thanks for the responses. I really appreciate it. My current Host "Leave Father" currently likes to call me once a month and express in several different ways how they can help me purchase additional services and loves to send me email quite frequently with products that I have no use for at a great discount. Also I cannot stand that they have to pay individuals to dress up the main page so that they can lure people to use there weird service.

Hmmm, a naked Gator. I should create one for all of the Florida Football fans out there =]

That's really bad business practice, we do not do any of that here
