I would suggest to HostGator forum administrator to correct several bugs in the forum that are quite annoying :
1- The last one was today after the siberia77 account deletion, several topics still have his name as the last post even if the posts are not existing. Even the "Upload eBook" topic is stuck as allways having a new post from him and it is not the case. (View attachment) 2- If the reputation system is not used then why keep the reputation bar visible. That situation is giving quite false informations regarding the users. 3- Is there a valid reason why the search of 3 letters words are not working, beside doubling the database researched words size? There are so many three letters words that newbies are trying to find with no results at all like : CSS, CPU, CMS, FTP, IMG, PHP, log, GIF, key, etc... At least mention in the search section that they need at least a 4 letters word! Thank you for caring about your users. |

I'm glad you brought this subject up as I just noticed exactly the same thing and when I went to see siberia77's profile it came up as skeetr's profile!
I thought I'd had too many wines but that wasn't the case!

A search for posts by siberia77 now returns "no results".

After clicking on "New Posts", if you go to the "Upload ebook" topic and click on "siberia77" name it still brings you to Gwyneth profile instead...

Thanks for this post. I know Drew is working on the new billing and chat systems--does anybody know if it's Drew that does forum upgrades also?

And how about fixing the AND search function.
You used to be able to put a phrase like "keyword1 AND keyword2" as the search criterium (with AND capitalized) and you were only presented threads that had BOTH keywords. That is no longer the case - the search engine ignores the AND and presents threads that have keyword1 OR keyword2. |

Meanwhile, a reasonable workaround is using Google, with site:forums.hostgator.com after your query, which can use all normal Google operators.

I don't think that's true, I'm sure I've gotten results from the other categories. You just need to be signed in to the forum, so you can do it in another tab or window...but I'm testing it now.

skeetr, that does appear to be true, at least now. But I know I've used it relatively recently to get something about DNS, and it returned the thread I was looking for, in the dedi category.

Yesterday i tested Google search ten times for key words of posts from different period of time and categories on HostGator forums and founded only one time the proper post. This method is really unreliable.

I got the reputation system completely removed and am looking into the "3 letter searches" right now.
As far as the deleted member, unfortunately if someone just deletes them, all of the posts are set to "guest" and vbulletin doesn't allow you to prune threads/posts based on that user name. Recently we've been using the "delete posts as spam" option that cleans up post history and bans all at once, so you shouldn't see too much of that in the future.

Thank you Wesley, for finally taking care of these annoyances.
About the "3 letter searches" would you please take in consideration the post of eLIANT regarding the logic AND utilisation for searching? Ref : http://forums.hostgator.com/showpost...59&postcount=6
