What happens if I'm digged or slashdotted?

What happens if I'm digged or slashdotted? Would my site be shut off or would it survive? I use WordPress and the WP-SuperCache plugin.

Have there been examples in the past where a site wasn't taken offline when it got digged or slashdotted?

You can't use 25% or more of system resources for longer then 90 seconds.

So I think you would still be suspended if you got lots of traffic from digg, etc. (Even if it's not your fault).

It depends. Of course, just because your site is linked on a popular website doesn't mean your account will be disabled. Only when your site starts degrading the performance of the server will we be forced to investigate, and if your site is above the CPU allotment, we'll have to disable it.

We have had a quite few digg submitted sites that survived- this was because the site owners practiced efficient site design (caching modules, disabling unnecessary CMS addons, etc.) before they submitted it, or as soon as they discovered they were being hit.

I noticed that too (the hidden image embed). What's the purpose of doing that?

I believe he's been banned before, under a different name but the same affiliate ID, rockon.

In this case, the purpose was to stuff a cookie with his HG affiliate ID, attached to an invisible image at his domain, the name of which spoofs one of google's tools (presumably to be less noticed on people's cookie screens).

This thread is in the public pre-sales category, so people viewing it would, unbeknownst to them, receive his cookie. Then, if they decided to buy hosting, the idea was that his affiliate ID would get credit for the sale.

I've attached a screen shot of the cookie that was stuffed; people may want to remove it from their systems.

Not sure if the ID was reported but Gwyneth included it in her last post. Looks like the user was not only banned but completely removed from the system including posts.

Except for the hidden image you accidentally included when you quoted him, which is still dropping the cookie. Perhaps you could ask for it to be removed?

I have asked to have the post deleted. I thought I had deleted the image when I quoted but looks like I missed it. Sorry....
