Default Greylisting

Hello

These days I'm drowning in spam and although SpamAssassin and my client's Bayesian filter do help, their performance is far from perfect.

"Greylisting" (http://www.greylisting.org/) has proven to be the single-most effective anti-spam tool that I've come across so far. I'd love to see this offered by HostGator. What are the chances that you guys will offer this anti-spam approach to shared hosting customers?

Thanks much,
Francesco

The efficiency of greylisting is based on the fact that spammers don't resend if the 1st send fails.
If greylisting becomes more popular it only means that spammers will follow, i.e. they resend if send fails because of greylisting.
After that greylisting is useless.

Not to mention the inconvenience that it causes to legitimate senders in the delays it causes.

Well that's all fine and dandy... the point is that some users would like the option nonetheless. So if someone from Hostgator could please respond to my initial query?

Thank you.

Albeit, this is the forum description:

Tell us how we can improve HostGator! Have ideas for new features or add-ons? Just let us know and we'll do our best to accomodate you.

So what is this now...? The forum to tell HG what improvements we want, or as you point out, a p2p support forum?

To some degree both comments are true. HG employees do monitor this section and there are cases where the suggestions are implemented where possible. The forums as a whole are for peer support. In this section that usually means that some suggestions will generate comments on pros and cons of the suggestions.
