Hello,
I thought perhaps it was time to post my general review of HostGator, I have now been a customer since 2007/09/22. I have only required support a few times since I started here, once for some site slowness problems, which seemed to stem from some shared site abusers. The other times have been in queries about the blank billing statements sent via email, Inode question, and some initial setup issues pertaining to gallery2 required libs. As you can see I "remember" the times I have required assistance, and generally what they were about. That is my history as it stands now and in the grand scheme of my time here they are just a blink of an eye. Each and every time I received prompt informative (detailed) answers to my questions, if there was something that needed further investigation I was told right up front. Within a short amount of time, I received a follow up which lead to a resolution/corrective action. The one thing that I am unsure of a resolution on was the billing emails that were blank (I no longer get them) but that was a billing software issue. I know that there were plans to update/correct/and or offer alternative billing software. I have not followed what has transpired in that issue as my time is limited. In any case it does not affect me, so I do not care ![]() I had some "issues" with the idea of the Inode count, and the failure of backups. While I do not solely depend on HostGator for my only backup as I create my own which I save to my local drives, it is one more net of safety. They have corrected the issue by adding the Inode info to the control panel (very nice) and also by sending out emails if your account reaches that level. I have had one notice sent out when I was performing some testing (duplicate file structures). While I understand the need for some limitations on a shared environment, I was very disappointed "in theory" when I first learned of the Inode limit. Now having had some time in dealing with it (or more precisely lack of dealing with it), it is a non-issue for me. In my opinion I have a rather large site, as it also hosts my photos (a hobby) and Gallery2 can create many files in short order, even after all of this time, I am about 20,000 under my Inode limit. That is with Gallery2, Nuke PHP, and many misc. files. I have run a dedicated server, hosting sites, games, etc. I have been a reseller as well. And while I understand that some are happy to pay $4.50 USD a month for what HostGator provides on the site hosting I can tell you this: There is no way, that I (nor many others) could provide the amount of service, uptime, and new features, that HostGator has provided for slightly above what I had charged. So put another way, for under $10.00 USD a month I believe what I (along with many others) are getting, is of excellent value. If you have reservations about shared hosting, overselling, etc. from previous providers. I can assure you that if you choose HostGator, those are issues that will soon be a distant memory. If you do learn of something here at HostGator that you believe "in theory" not to be good for you as it pertains to your site, take a break from mass hysteria. And work on your site for awhile and "determine" if it TRULY affects you or not. In closing I would just say that yes I do, would and have recommend HostGator as a "complete" hosting provider. From sales, to server, to maintenance and support, you will find that they are equipped and ready to provide you with everything you need, and more. My appologies for taking so long to post a review, I have been busy
