Host gator almost seems to be good to be true, but I have heard high recommendations from someone who recommends this company and is very popular. Although is it really unlimited MySql databases? because where I am currently hosted we only have 1 and I wish I had more but I dont want to pay for more.

A few quick other questions (which might not be quick)

1. If I ever have problems installing scripts will support help me out if I send in a ticket?

2. I know there is no such thing as unlimited anything so whats the most MySql databases you can have?

3. How would I set up a custom plan? If I decided to switch I wouldnt need tha t much space or bandwith but still would like a lot of the same features.....

4. Is host gator too good to be true? So far I like what I see. Sometimes I am very skeptical about webhosts.

Thank you for your time, replies and I look forward to hearing back from you!

Absolutely. We offer 24/7 tech support, but please understand that if you are in need of support for 3rd party software, we are unable to provide this support free of charge. Another option for you if you are ever having script difficulties would be to post in our support forums, and hopefully a fellow customer will be able to assist you. Additionally, we offer script installation services for a flat fee of $20. Please note that certain scripts require more time, so send an email in first to get a firm quote.

The term "unlimited" simply means that we do not place a fixed limit on the number of databases you can create. The limit is reached when you have met your allotted disk space quota. If you have a 2GB plan, and wish to host 25 databases, that would be fine provided you are under your space quota.

If you submit an email to sales@hostgator.com with your exact requirements, I am sure something can be worked out.

Your skepticism is welcome and expected. It is unfortunate that there exist so many shady hosting providers that any claim or promise of better service is met with trepidation. All I can say is that our reputation speaks for itself, and with a 30-day money back guarantee, you really have nothing to lose by giving us a try.

Of course you shouldn't take my word for it. Instead, head over to non-biased review sources such as Web Hosting Talk and search for our name or ask for input from their members. Also, check out our very own Customer Experiences forum right here on these forums. We may not please all of the people all of the time, but we are proud of the good reputation we have maintained over the past couple of years.

One of our customers has recently documented how to get your copy of DW to link up with your HostGator server. Take a look:

Hello, thanks for the reply and maybe when my hosting service is up I will look forward to coming here since I would use more MySQL databases which cost extra on my other plan. It could be awhile and yes I have looked around the forums and saw how you handled things and like it for the most part. I also have high recommendations from WHT and another guy that hosts his websites off of you.

Thanks for your time!

Since you're asking about service, I figure I'll put in my two cents so you can get an opinion from someone who doesn't work here.

Relative to other hosts I've used, HostGator is outstanding. Some of the posts here compain that their responses are terse, short, and seemed canned. I don't have a problem with canned responses. I'm sure they get asked the same question hundreds of times each day. Generally I haven't had a problem getting a better response if I email back. Honestly, I think the "attitude" in their answers is more because of where they are. Where I live we can talk to someone for half an hour before we get the the reason we called. Other parts of the country would find this irritating. So, again, I don't see this as a problem unless you really like to babble on about weather with the tech support people.

Speaking of chat, that's probably the one bad point I've found. It's not that it's bad, it's that it's inconsistant. Some times you will get a tech who seems like they could fix any problem and will do whatever it takes to get you working. And, sometimes it seems like you get someone who got caught on their way out the door to lunch.

That said, HostGator is my fourth host since I started working on web pages; and hopefully I'll be here for a while. I'm sure there are better hosts out there, but I know there are many that are worse (I've used several of them).

p.s. As an aside, one of the things I really like about this host is this bulletin board. My last host would delete any message that hinted at being negative against them. I really appreciate that Justin, Brent, and whoever else moderates here do not and allows clients (both current and potential) to see how they solve problems.

I've been a client here at HostGator for several months, and i am still skeptical that i found such a great hosting company. I also love the forums, which arent deleted when someone has a negative comment against the company. You can always try it, and if you can find some reason not to like it get your money back. I doubt that happening though
