Global PHP Change *SHARED/RESELLER*

We are setting the default behavior for magic_quotes_gpc to off in our php.ini's in order to make way for our upcoming SiteBuilder upgrades. This will allow us to offer all of the SiteBuilder modules such as eShop and Blog. If you have any problems after we make the change you can toggle these settings in your php.ini QuickConfig located under the Software / Services section of your main cPanel.

Maybe, but that's not what my first reaction was when I saw a white screen with php-errors where my bridged Coppermine gallery used to be.

Spent an hour or so in Dreamweaver and Google trying to fix it - who would have thought that the mess came from the very people I trust my sites on.

That aside, kudos to the HG team for sending the word out in the CP. That perhaps saved another frustrating hour or two.

My problem is fixed and lil' Billy can now set up his blog with five clicks in Site Builder. Hooray.

Is there a particular theme in Cpanel that you must have installed in order to get these announcements? I didn't see it on mine (x3) on my reseller account, but I may well have missed it.

We are not doing reseller servers JUST yet. We will most likely e-mail our resellers when we get to those servers. We don't have an RSS feed yet for resellers due to resellers' branding their cPanels themselves. The theme we use on our shared servers is branded to HG (our resellers wouldn't like that!)

I'll release more information about how we'll handle those servers once we fully commit to one of our many ideas on the subject.

Something strange has happened. The php error messages I mentioned earlier have returned. First thing I checked was magic_quotes_gpc in the global php.ini. It was still "on", like I set it.

But "magic_quotes_runtime" was off, so on a hunch, I set it to "on" as well. Bingo, problem solved - for now.

Is there something more we should know about these changes then?

wait, hasnt it always been off? or atleast on some servers?

if not, did you already turn them off? cause its listed as "off" right now....

if it breaks any scripts we only have to change it in the php config in cp?

The only change that's being made is magic_quotes_gpc is being set from on to off. magic_quotes_runtime is not being toggled at all.

I fixed it back by using the cpanel quick config. Now the web site works again.

Where is this phpini file stored?

The server announcements you see in your cPanel are also an RSS feed. You can subscribe to that and skip announcements not relevant to your server.

Upon logging into your cPanel, you should see an RSS icon show up in your browser UI (the location varies depending on the browser being used; in Firefox it's on the right size of the address bar).

My prefered default brouser is an older browser that does not show that.

Are you on a shared or reseller server? We haven't done anything with the reseller servers yet. We wanted to give sufficient notice before we made any changes.

Oh. I am on a reseller account. I just got the "heads up" email and seemed to notice all my embedded videos were gone. Thought it could have been the cause. Maybe Youtube is doing something? I will keep searching.

I think Joomla also will be effected.

I had your email and it says that I can toggle these settings in my php.ini EZConfig located under the Software / Services section of my clients' cPanel.

I didn't find anything ..

in Software ::PHP Configuration there are some none editable values and message says :
These PHP configuration settings are customizable by the server administrator. They are listed for reference only.
How can I solve this problem for my complaining clients?

The server was not able to find the document (./frontend/x2/phpini.php) you requested.
Please check the url and try again. You might also want to report this
error to your web hosting provider.

The EZConfig button is something we've developed in house. It's meant to be used with x or x3. I can modify it to function properly for x2. Can you please PM me your domain so I can sandbox this, fix it and roll it out to all servers?

Actually I located your domain, and fixed the issue for x2. The fix is being pushed to all servers currently.
