It would be nice to see git installed on the servers so we can tap git repos, I know you installed SVN because of Ruby, but as I'm sure you are aware of, a lot of the Ruby applications use Git repos and not SVN. As well, it would make installing some ruby gems locally easier since Github hosts ruby gems along side rubyforge.
If you use CentOS 5 or 4 then you have git in the EPEL repo. CentOS 5: git x86_64 1.5.3.3-1.el5 epel 6.2 k CentOS 4: git 1.5.4.7 2.el4 x86_64 124 Bytes It would also be nice to see all the following gems on all servers: tzinfo - this is used by most applications that are built on Ruby and Rails because Ruby and Rails do not use UTC, and we don't know if they ever will. Sadly, I know. liquid and hoe - liquid is a templating system used by a lot of applications, it's a pseudo code templating system used by mephisto and I believe typo (well, if you use typo you have issues anyways because typo is rather well, odd to say the least) and even beast (the forum) and several other applications. Hoe is it's dependency. xml-simple - I was told this was a default because it's popular, but it was accidently left off my server so I assumed I should still mention it just incase. radiant - this is the gem that compiles and builds radiantCMS, they built it as a gem because it's a lightweight CMS built for shared environments and it autoconfigs for you. Great CMS and lots will love it. Last edited by envygeeks; 02-26-2009 at 09:35 AM. |
