I get this error constantly / 550 Can't check for file existence

In process of moving my site here. Got a friend doing the file move for me and he is getting that error while uploading. He has unlimited ftp access.



I know this ain't the right place but I have asked several forum mods but they will not upgrade my forum account to get into the members section to ask questions in the right place so Ill post them here till then.

Ask him to try a different FTP program (FlashFXP recommended) it sounds like a prob with the FTP program,

That is a mod_security error. Likely your ftp program is using some function that isn't allowed, though I have no idea what.

Change ftp programs, anything that acts like that can't be a 'nice' program and is likely over using resources.

think hes using cuteFTP but has gone offline for the day so I dunno.

You could check the file permissions in cPanel's File Manager. They should probably be 644.

Some ftp programs leave some files with 0 permission, which means they might as well not exist as far as browsers are concerned.

Sometime they say in the readme text for the file or script to make sure to upload in binary.
If you don't do that the file might get corrupter and who knows what error you might receive.

so far it looks like he had no trouble, but dunno if he is done uploading or not. forum folder was over 1gig but most of them are folks pic in their photo album. Wish people would learn how to use their digi cams, default 1600x1200 5meg images of their motorcycle don't help space wise.

need one of them file size shrinkers, that don't change image size just file size on disk with little image quality loss but have it run on the server?

imagemagick (that's how it's spelled) and gd can do it and I'm pretty sure both are installed on all shared servers.
