When will this be over?

My website is loading VERY slowly. I can’t update or do anything

can you explain more about this attack? Why you can’t block the attacker IP? What’s the Attack Type? If a big company like Hostgator can’t secure their servers why don’t you tell us maybe we can help?

It took you more than a Week now and you do not figure it out yet? How long it would take more?

If you can’t fix it then why don’t you take our site to another server?

I already submit I ticket to support 2 days ago, and here is the Email I got from the support team at Hostgator:

tickets@hostgator.com

“Hello,
I apologize for the issues. I do see that there was an issue with some IP's flooding the server that your account is on. We are working to resolve this issue on the server permanently which should be completed shortly.

Moving to a dedicated IP will not help with performance. You are still on the same server and sharing the same hardware resources as you would have been on a shared IP address. Please let us know if you have any questions.

Please let me know if there is anything else I can help with.

Regards,

Jacob P.
Internal Support Admin”

The second Email is this:

“Hi

This server is currently under guard due to incoming attacks. To stay posted on the status of this server, you may view our forum entry at
http://forums.hostgator.com/gator585-t40556.html

Please contact us further if you have any problems.

Regards,
Jason Reynolds
HostGator Support”

I only what to know when will this Ends ?

is there any time frame for this server to become unguarded? Got users waiting for a content update on my site and this guard thing is blocking my uploads.

been 2 days so far.

we already have Striddy , and they have said the same thing as with Jo. Our server is being guarded at the moment from an attack, probably a ddos.

My staff and I just want to know how long they estimate their investigation is going to take and/or when they esdtimate that this attakc is going to end.

and fyi as to our problem, its their protection firewall. ban's our ip addresses for a short time while we try to upload to the file manager or ftp accounts.

If it's a DDOS then there is no way to estimate how long it will continue for.

You can also use live chat support to check on your ticket status.

((striddy))

your posts are all useless!

“Who said it was an attack?”

“If you are having a problem with your site(s), submit a ticket to support at hostgator dot com.” AS if we don’t know already.

“If it's a DDOS then there is no way to estimate how long it will continue for.”

You don’t know if it is a ddos attack or not? Who knows then?

FYI, this is a Peer Support Forum.

While HG Staff does check in here occasionally, and does post updates to certain problems or issues, striddy's recommendation is the correct path to take to resolve your particular problems as quickly as possible.

Posting here is not going to get the problem *resolved* more quickly than going through Support, or checking with Live Chat, as he recommended, though you may get more info after the dust is settled.

From the descriptions given so far, I suspect it IS a ddos attack. And given the nature of one, no one can can know when it will stop.

Why thank you for trying to help me. That's my pleasure. I am glad to help. Oops, that must have been another thread.

(Oh fabulous, another one for the ignore list. )

Snide comments won't bring your server back online, nor will people desire to help you here if you don't show them some basic respect.

Why is it some people feel the need to attack someone trying to assist them.

I said that "if" it is a DDOS, then no way to know how long. Did you perhaps misread my statement? Unlikely.
